Family of Stephon Clark, 22, alleges Officers Terrence Mercadal and Jared Robinet used excessive force by firing approximately 20 shots at Clark on March 18, 2018, killing him in his grandmother's backyard in Sacramento. Clark was unarmed, holding only a cell phone. Officers mistook the phone for a weapon. Claims of excessive force, unreasonable seizure, and civil rights violations under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
