Eric L. Ellis filed a § 1983 civil rights complaint against the Irving Police Department, Officer Lauren Gilmette, and the City of Irving alleging constitutional violations. The case was originally filed in the Western District of Louisiana and later transferred to the Northern District of Texas. Ellis filed multiple amended complaints, but the court ultimately dismissed the case with prejudice on February 28, 2022, after finding failure to state a viable constitutional claim.
