Gregory Wayne Wallis alleges § 1983 wrongful imprisonment and malicious prosecution by Irving police officers after he was wrongfully convicted of rape and served 17 years in prison. He was exonerated in 2006 when advanced DNA testing excluded him as the perpetrator. Wallis claims officers Fred Curtis, Harold Renfroe, Jason Neal, Leasa Liles, and Daniel Hagood conducted a flawed investigation, relied on mismatched physical evidence (tattoo location and scar placement differed from victim description), and failed to properly investigate before charging him. Named defendants include the City of Irving and various police officers, prosecutors, and investigators.
