Family of George Floyd alleges Officers Derek Chauvin, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane, and J. Alexander Kueng violated Floyd's Fourth Amendment right to be free from excessive force during his arrest on May 25, 2020. Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck for over nine minutes while Floyd was handcuffed and prone, causing his death. The complaint also alleges the City of Minneapolis had a pattern and practice of training officers to use excessive force.
